The small things you miss exactly when you need them

The server arrives and there is no console port adapter. The card is installed and the power cable turns out to be too short. Worth keeping spare

• Replacement cables. Power, monitor, USB in the right version and length.
• Adapters between connectors. Especially when old and new devices share the same estate.
• A flash drive for installing an operating system. It sits in a drawer for years and saves the day in five minutes.
